OUR STORY

Discover body care created in harmony with humans and nature

Weleda’s principles and philosophy stem from the teachings of Dr. Rudolf Steiner in the 1920s. He encouraged the individual to see his or her body, mind and spirit as intrinsically linked to our world - all a part of one holistic system.

Steiner's belief: reconnecting with the natural world is the best way to bring ourselves back into balance.

Steiner collaborated with one of the first women physicians in Europe, Dr. Ita Wegman, and a team of scientists. In 1921, they created the first synergistic products orchestrated to reconnect the body with its natural rhythms.

For the most active ingredients, they planted the first biodynamic gardens, biodynamic agriculture means that farming, seed production, and landscape maintenance follow the rhythms of nature and the earth.

Today, Weleda has partnerships and offices around the globe.

Despite our success, Weleda is a people-and-planet over profits brand. We still cultivate our own biodynamic gardens and work in fair trade agreements with small farmers and gardeners to source the best raw materials.

We still strive to make the best non-toxic, cruelty-free, paraben-free, GMO-free, phthalate-free and synthetic fragrance-free products available in the marketplace.
